MLK Cultural Dinner

— Illinois State University —

Promotional material for Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day Cultural Dinner. Illinois State University holds a seasonal cultural dinner where attendees can have dinner with a guest speaker from an underrepresented community. In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life, Illinois State invited Baratunde Thurston to give a talk at this Cultural Dinner.

Baratunde Thurston is an American writer, comedian, and commentator. Thurston co-founded the black political blog Jack and Jill Politics, whose coverage of the 2008 Democratic National Convention was archived in the Library of Congress, and was director of digital for The Onion.

I led the creation of the visual theming for this Cultural Dinner. I established the look and feel that this event should have. Other designers on our team created the remaining assets for this event following my established visual language.
